The Wizard of Oz — The Musical:

Dorothy Gale, a young girl living on a Kansas farm with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, dreams of escaping her mundane life. The family’s mean neighbour, Miss Gulch, threatens to impound Dorothy’s cherished dog, Toto, so Dorothy and Toto run away. They meet up with kindly Professor Marvel, who subtly convinces Dorothy to return home. Suddenly a cyclone hits, and Dorothy and Toto are transported to the Land of Oz.

In Oz, Dorothy meets Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.  Dorothy’s house has landed upon the Wicked Witch of the East – the Munchkins rejoice but the Wicked Witch of the West vows vengeance.  Dorothy decides to seek assistance from the Wizard of Oz. Along the way, she meets three friends – the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. They band together to each ask the Wizard for a favour. 

In the second act, they reach the Emerald City and the Wizard demands that they bring him the broomstick of the Wicked Witch of the West and then their wishes will be granted. After being captured but athen defeating the Witch, they return to the Emerald City. Dorothy’s three new-found friends are granted their wishes. Young Dorothy, however, is made to realize that this dream-like adventure has taught her a priceless life-lesson which she then embraces wholeheartedly.
